My name is Jasmine Martinez, and I am 16 years old. I am from Oxnard, California, but my parents are from Copandaro, Michoacan. I’ve lived in Oxnard for my whole life. All my siblings except for my sister and I have spent half their lives in Mexico because my mom brought them when they were really young. They were pretty much born and raised in Mexico, but my sister and I were born and raised in Oxnard. I’ve always wanted to go to Mexico and visit my family over there, but I really don’t think I would be able to stay there for at least a day. I also have one dog; she is really small. I’ve never traveled out of the state, but one of my goals is to travel a lot, visit a lot of places, and just explore the world. One of my other goals is to build my own home. I always talk about building my own home because I think that's a really big accomplishment and something I’m really interested in doing.
One specific thing that I’m interested in doing is going to school and studying for a job in the medical field. I’m really passionate about the medical field. In the future, I would like to become a pediatrician. I would like to be a pediatrician because I love working with kids. I think working with kids is the best job there is. If a pediatrician doesn’t work out, then I would like to work in the dentistry. Those are some of my goals for the future. One of my favorite places to eat at is Boiling Crab. I think Boiling Crab in my opinion is the best. My favorite sport to play is volleyball. Whenever I’m bored, I just go outside with my sister and play volleyball. My least favorite chore is washing dishes. I can't stand washing dishes; I don't know why. I will say that cleaning my room and blasting music are some of my favorites. I personally can’t clean without listening to music. The only way I enjoy cleaning is by listening to music. Listening to music is one of my favorite things to do while I'm cleaning or not. I enjoy listening to music a lot.
