Was Jesus really born in December? There’s no evidence that he was born in that month. In fact, his birth wasn’t mentioned or celebrated. But was Jesus really born on December 25? nope, the Bible doesn’t mention his exact birthday. Church finally settled on December 25 to celebrate Jesus’ birth. The celebration of Christmas spread throughout the Western world over the next several centuries.

Late on Christmas Day, 1776, George Washington led the Continental Army across the icy Delaware River in a surprise attack on the British forces. The Treaty of Ghent officially ending the War of 1812 was signed on Christmas Day. The apollo 8 group orbited the moon for the very first time on Christmas Day, 1968. Some people also think that December 25th might have also been chosen because the Winter Solstice and the ancient pagan Roman midwinter festivals called ‘Saturnalia’ and ‘Dies Natalis Solis Invicti’ took place in December around this date so it was a time when people already celebrated things.
