story time: My best friend is leaving…

I met my best friend in third grade when I first got to California from Arizona. Kimberly’s birthday is May 3, 2001 and my birthday is May 13, 2001.  Kimberly Huerta is my best friend and also cousin. I went to Kamala Elementary and I had Mrs. Gonzalez and Kimberly had her too. I sat right next to her and she was my first friend. We played together in recess and she introduced me to her friends. Since then it was always Kim and I, everywhere she would go she’ll take me, and everywhere I would go I would want to take her. I met her mom and she met my mom so we would always sleepover every Friday. I would go to her house and the following week she’d come to my house. 3 grade, 4th grade, and  5th grade passed and during 6th grade we would always go to the Plaza and watch movies with friends. We got even closer and my dad would treat her as his daughter. 7th grade came and she went to Frank Middle School and I went to Haydock Middle School but we would still hangout. There was this one time where we stopped talking because we just got distant but then we hung out and we became even closer. 8th grade came and we promoted middle school, she went to my promotion and I went to hers. High school came and she moved to Channel Island and I went to Hueneme High school but we would still see each other.  I even lived with her for a while so we became even closer; we would go everywhere together even if it was out of Oxnard. Kim graduated High school last year, I was supposed to graduate with her but I fell behind because I wasn’t really focused in school.  At the beginning of September I received news that she was moving to Huron, California. When she told me I didn’t believe her but day by day she was packing and yesterday, November 20, 2019, she called me and told me that Wednesday, November 27, 2019, is her last day here in Oxnard. The fact that I’m going to lose her hurts so much because her and I used to do everything together. Now,  I am only going to be able to see her during the summer or any special event.  Always keep your loved ones close and appreciate everything you do with them because they can leave when you least expect it.
