My Favorite Horror Movies

If you know me outside of being a contributor to the Voyager, you know that I absolutely love horror movies. Give me any type of horror movie and I’ll watch it. I’m also known in my group of friends to not flinch during a horror movie. It’s almost concerning to be honest. Here are some of my favorite horror movies.

  1. The Gallows: Some know this film being the inspiration to the ‘Charlie Charlie’ challenge, I know this film for being hilariously bad. It’s a found footage film about four high school kids who sneak into their school late at night only to be ambushed by the ghost of Charlie who died in 1993 in a school play. I think this film is kinda funny because they’re trapped in the school but they didn’t have to go inside, they simply could’ve avoided getting killed. The ending was hit or miss to be honest.
  2. The Nightmare On Elm Street: I love me some Freddy Krueger. This is actually one of the first horror movies I’ve ever seen, watching this when I was around 8 or 7. I really like some of the sequels but not the reboot. No, just no. My favorite sequel is the third film which Dream Warriors which is mostly because of one scene. I shall not speak it here but it’s Freddy in a television set, go search it up. The main plot of the films is that Freddy is a killer who kills and terrorizes teens in their sleep. I think it was very creative. Plus it stars a young Johnny Depp. That’s all.
  3. Child’s Play: I was actually terrified of this film back when I was very little. I slowly got into it was I got older because I continued to watch horror movies so much that I can’t flinch while watching them. I still think that a haunted doll is still super creepy. The main plot follows Chucky whose soul has been transferred into the doll after being shot down by the cops, the haunted doll is gifted to a little boy then plans to transfer his soul into the little boys body. The film has had hit or miss sequels and a reboot coming soon starring Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill starring as the killer doll. Fingers crossed that it’s good.
  4. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones: Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. All of it just yes. I’m not a big fan of the Paranormal Activity series but this one by far was my favorite. Taking place in Oxnard, yes our Oxnard, two friends begin to experience paranormal activity, haha puns, not long after one of their neighbors dies. Being the Fred Jones of the Latino community, they decide to break in and investigate. To be honest, I think this movie was better than the previous films mostly because of somewhat relatable it is. Not everyone is going to a White family living in the suburbs only to find out that the wife’s past imaginary friend was actually a ghost. That’s simply my opinion.
