Origami is the ancient Japanese  art pf paper folding. The name origami  is derived from the Japanese words ‘oru’ which means to fold and ‘Kami’ which is paper.

The name ‘origami’ was coined in 1880. Origami is equally popular in China and other parts of Asia. In Japan, people usually acquire origami skills quite early during childhood. Different paper folding traditions exist in East Asia and Europe.

As origami requires following precise directions, it has gained a widespread following as a hobby among adults too. The exact origin of the art is unknown. Many of the origami forms involve complicated steps and are difficult to make.
