In order to play baseball, you’ll need a ball and a bat. There is two teams that play, each taking turns to bat and field. A pitcher starts by throwing a baseball to the batter. The batter’s main goal is to hit the ball thrown at him into the field of play and run the bases. The goal of the defensive team is to prevent anybody from the opponent team from getting on a base. Each team can only afford to get out three times before they switch opportunities. Games are scheduled to go nine innings, but the game will go as many innings it may take for a winner to emerge. The visiting team usually bats in the top half of an inning while the home team bats in the bottom half of an inning. The field played on is diamond in shape. At each end of home run territory, are two foul poles.

Each MLB roster carries 25 players that are active and ready to play at the drop of a dime. Positions are as such; Catcher, Pitcher, First Baseman, Second Baseman, Shortstop, Third Baseman, Left Fielder, Center Fielder, Right Fielder, and if in the American League, a DH. A great sport indeed.
