Andrew Cherng opens the first Panda Express at the Glendale Calleria in Glendale, California. Peggy Cherng customizes the restaurant’s operating system to assure the most signature dish, Orange Chicken. The dish features crispy chicken bites in a sweet and spicy sauce.

In 2016, 80 million pounds of orange chicken was served. Panda Express celebrated their 10th anniversary by opening their 100th location on the UCLA campus. The founders Andrew and Peggy Cherng are inducted into the California Restaurant Association Hall of Fame. Beijing Beef was born when Panda Express celebrated their 25th anniversary. This dish brings crispy strips of marinated beef, bell peppers, and onions in a tangy-sweet sauce. Panda Express opened their first international restaurant in Mexico City,Mexico. Since then, they expanded to Guam, Puerto Rico, Canada, South Korea and Dubai.
