M&M’s are button-shaped candy with a chocolate center. M&M’s were introduced in 1941 in the United States after the son of Mars company’s founder saw soldiers in the Spanish Civil War eating Smarties. Until 1954 the M on M&M’s were printed in blank inc. After 1954, it was printed in white inc.

M&M’s were originally packaged in a cardboard tube and the bags they are packaged in today were not introduced until 1948. In 1954 the slogan “The milk chocolate that melts in your mouth, not in your hand” was trademark, along with the M&M characters. Everyday more than 400 million M&M are manufactured. M&M’s often releases special holiday packaging versions of the chocolates and includes a variety of fillings and sizes.
