1.They are the first fruit to ripen in the spring time. They are usually well picked when it is spring because in some places in the summer is when field workers make a lot of money from picking strawberries.

2.They are not berries but fruits.  Technically, a berry has its seeds on the inside. And, to be über technical, each seed on a strawberry is considered by botanists to be its own separate fruit.

3. Strawberries wear their seeds outside. The average berry is adorned with some 200 of them. No wonder it only takes one bite to get seed stuck in you teeth.

4. Strawberries are believed to help reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers. They are low in calories and high in vitamin C, B6, K, fiber, folic acid, potassium and amino acids.

5. California produces 80% of the strawberries in the US. The US grows about 2 billion pounds of the heart-shaped fruits per year. Every state in United States and every province Canada grows their own.
