Are you tired of seeing so many basic pets like dogs, cats, or birds in your neighborhood? Do you want to stand out and be different? If so, here are a list of weird animals that you can actually own as petsImage result for bearded dragons

The first one is a bearded dragon. I’ll admit these lizards aren’t so uncommon, but they aren’t your typical house pet either. It’s described as very docile and easy to take care of, along with the fact that it isn’t a danger to people, making it a popular pet.

Axolotls are next on this list. They’re probably one of the weirdest animals you’ll ever Image result for axolotlsee. Think of a salamander that never got over the larval phase, so they remain aquatic creatures instead of land animals like salamanders are.  Although they are endangered in the wild, there are more held in captivity in their natural habitats in Mexico.

As smelly as they can be, skunks have also found a way on this list. Although, domesticated skunks have their scent glands removed at a young age, making it safe to have them around the house. Owning a Image result for skunksskunk is described as being similar to owning a cat or feret, but before going out and purchasing one, you should probably double-check and see if it’s legal to own one in your state since it is illegal in some.

Otters, the “ferets on crack”, can also be a household pet. They are infamous for Image result for ottersdestroying the homes of their owners because they love to get their hands on just about anything, so beware. Otters love water so it’s best to have a body of water near by where they’re able to frolic and swim in.

Another weird but adorable pet that you can own is a sugar glider. Their name isn’t misleading, they have a membrane that stretches from their hind legs to their front ones, allowing them Image result for sugar gliderto glide from tree to tree or as many describe it as them flying. Although this pet is not that recommended because they are nocturnal which means they sleep all day but are awake at night, unless you’re nocturnal yourself.

The last one on this list is our over sized guinea pig friend, the capybara. If you always wanted to walk a guinea pig, or just have one in general, then this is the perfect pet for you. It’s Image result for capybarathe largest rodent in the world, exceeding 4 feet in length and up to 100 pounds. Although not all states allow them and they aren’t really good for families who have children.
