Mr. Rivera is currently a teacher here at Hueneme. He teaches World Civ. and Ap European History. Not to mention that he is a wrestling coach admired by many of his students. He likes to describe himself as a hermit who keeps to himself and his classroom, not mention her loves all things Star Wars. I’d like to say that this interview is helping him to push and come out of his hermit shell and into a bigger world.

How old are you?

How long have you been teaching?

“This is my 8th year, 4 in San Diego, 4 here.”

Did you see yourself becoming a teacher?

“I did, not my whole childhood but once I graduated yeah I did.”

“A graphic designer.”

Do you have any mottos that you live by or would like to share?

“Do I…um I guess… always keep moving forward, don’t look back.”

Worst experience with a student?

“I’ve never really had a bad experience, probably just students who don’t care about the class or what’s going on and you try so hard but they just give up, a kid who lost interest.”

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen here at school?

“OH THE CAR FIRE. I was the one that called 9-1-1, yeah Mr. Ehlers and I caught it first. That was crazy.”

As a wrestling coach, did you dislike Avalos?

“What…no I like Avalos.”
