1985 Thunder Storm

In July 25 and 26 in 1985 Ireland and Kilkenny were both affected by this strong weather especially, Kilkenny that’s when all hell broke loose. Strong rain and hail came pouring down to Kilkenny for long as 30-60 minutes. Hitting midnight a big dark cloud full of lighting hit to ground and when it stopped you may think it’s over but it’s not another dark cloud was behind the first cloud and lighting and rain began 49.7 inches of rain was recorded. Many crops were destroyed, many buildings were also damaged, and a bunch of farm animals were killed by lighting strikes. This storm made history and it may come back to hit the same place or maybe hit in a different location?

That was a week after we buried my dad… Myself and one of my brother’s were sitting looking out a West facing window when we saw what we assume was Ball lightning, it was traveling east to west and looked like it was only a short number of metres off the ground. I was very concerned that it was heading straight towards a local petrol station but luckily that didn’t happen.
