  1. Educate yourself.
  2. Let them know they’re not alone.
  3. Be fully present when they want to talk.
  4. Let them know its okay if they don’t want to talk.
  5. Empower them in little things.
  6. Invite them out, even if they don’t want to go.
  7. Let them know it’s okay if they need time alone.
  8. Validate their feelings.
  9. Remember to take care of yourself.
  10. Give them plenty of time to recover.
  11. Keep focusing on the future.
  12. Ask them how they’d like to be helped.
  13. Be a resource.
  14. Encourage them to seek treatment.
  15. Don’t give up on them.
