My name is Mia G. Ruiz Salazar. I am a 16-year-old senior here at Hueneme Highschool. I live with both my parents, my younger brother and a dog named Kira. I have an older brother too but he doesn't live with us since he has his own family now. I’m an aunt to two beautiful girls. I was born in Ventura but was raised here in Oxnard, California. I would like to say a talent of mine is drawing, it’s something that I have enjoyed since I was in elementary and to this day it’s something I love doing, but what I love the most is going to Mexico. I go to Sinaloa, Mexico (where my mom is from) every year and it's an escape from reality for me. I spent half a year there and it was the best experience ever, I met so many amazing people and got closer to my family. That’s when I learned to cherish the things I have and that quality time with family is very important. Over the summer, I went to CSU Channel Islands for a communication course, it was a decision I'm glad I made because it was a little out of my comfort zone, going to a place I’ve never been before and with people I've never met before. I gained a lot after it, such as realizing I wanted to go to a 4-year university and study something in business. As of right now, I’m looking forward to graduating and going to college after. One main thing on my bucket list is to travel to at least 4 countries before I die.
