Basketball is a team sport just like all the other sports. It is played with 2 teams on the field and each team plays with 5 five players on the field. This sport is played on a rectangular floor called the court and there is a hoop with a net on it on each end of the field. The team with the possession of the ball is called the offense. The team without the ball is called the defense.

This sport is played indoors. Each team tries to score by shooting the ball through the opponents’ hoop. Basketball was created by Dr. James Naismith in December 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Basketball is an Olympic sport for men consistently since 1936. Women’s Basketball made its debut in the Summer Olympics in 1976.
