Is Patagonia Worth it?

Patagonia is usually associated with environmentalism and also a hefty price tag, so is it worth the price?

Well, Patagonia is more than just a brand, it’s amorality. Their mission statement is “Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis.” In their astonishing return policy, they’ve committed to owning every coat/piece they sell forever. ” We committed ourselves to owning the product forever so, when we sell you a jacket, we still own it. If you get overweight or you’re tired of the color or whatever, you want to get rid of it we’ll help you sell it to somebody else if it breaks down, we’ll fix it, if it’s finally completely shot, you give back to us  and we’ll recycle it into more garments.” Founder Yvon Chouinard was not talking about the literal ownership but he was talking about the responsibility.

They were one of the first companies in the world to sources organic cotton, and they have the harasses standers on recycled down and traceable down. They use recycled materials in all their products. Most of their buildings are also LEED-certified or utilize some sort of renewable energy. 100% of their Black profits go to environmental organizations. They also voluntarily pay a 1% earth tax to environmental agencies and have since 1895.

Patagonia also doesn’t shy from hiding their imperfections, they have a dedicated section on their website called, “The Footprint Chronicles”. In their section, they highlight and break down the more negative side of their clothing industry. They do it with distraught and an honesty discomfort.
