Hueneme High School is a four-year public school and was founded in 1959 and sits at the heart of South Oxnard. Hueneme serves most of the southside of Oxnard and other neighborhoods near the school. The principal of the school is Mr. Ayala. This school provided many opportunities and a great start for a student in their future in college or university as well as in life. The school is approximately populated with over 2000 students enrolled at the school. This High School provides many academics and sports for the students. The school has an AVID program, NJROTC, ART classes, and more. The school also has many sports students who can join such as the football team, soccer team, baseball team, tennis, swim, water polo, and more.  Hueneme High school has also made notable alumni in the past years. Keary Colbert is a former Hueneme Viking alumni who was a letterman at football and track. He later got drafted in the NFL to Carolina Panthers as a wide receiver in 2004.
