Vespasian’s son Titus opened the Colosseum officially known as the Flavian Amphitheater with 100 days of games, including gladiatorial combats and wild animal fights.

Measuring some 620 by 513 feet, the Colosseum was the largest amphitheater in the Roman World. The distinctive exterior had three stories of arched entrances. At the bottom were columns by Ionic and topped by the ornate order.
