Jansport is one of the leading designer and maker in backpacks, shoulder bags, and luggage. Jansport is a subsidiary of VF corporation. VF corporations is know for its blue jeans lines, it includes Rider, Rustler, Lee, and Wrangler. The founders of Jasport are Skip Yowell, Janis Lewis, Murray Pletz, and Norman Pletz and founded the company in 1967.

In 1975 Jansport created the first convertible travel pack also along side with there leather signature day pack. At first Jansport backpacks were meant for hiking until a student from University of Washington  used the backpack to put his books and other thing he need for school inside it so it wont get wet from the rain. After that more people started using the backpacks.Originally these backpacks were meant for outdoors so Jansport stated to design new backpacks, soon to be known as the “SuperBreak”.
