Dangerous Hackers

  1. Gary McKinnon- Gary managed to hack into the Pentagon computers. In 2001 and 2002 he hacked the US military and NASA computers from his base in London, he deleted files and changed passwords. He caused a 24- hour shutdown, munitions trucks stopped, and a huge security shutdown. In 2002 he was arrested and he’s dangerous hacker that he managed to cause a military disaster.

2. Cody Kretsinger- Cody was part of the hacker group called “LulzSec” and know as “Recursion”. Cody was part of Sony Playstation hack in 2011, where he got into 77 million people’s personal data for 24 days. Kretsinger was relatively light sentence that was a year in prison.

3. Adrian Lamo- Known as “the Homeless Hacker”. Lamo has been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. His anti-social behavior he hack into New York Times website and add himself to their expert data base and for that he got six months detention at his parents house, plus a fine. After he donated to WikiLeaks he exposed a soldier called Bradley Manning and they were military information.

4. Jonathan James- Jonathan was a teenage hacker and at age 16 he stole $170 millions worth of code from NASA, for this he received only a juvenile sentence. In 2007 Jonathan came back and he hacked TJX department store, he didn’t want to go to prison so he committed suicide on May 18, 2008.

5. Jeremy Hammond- Jeremy served 10 year prison sentence because he hacked to 60,000 credit cards numbers and used it to make donations to a charity. One of the biggest hack he did was that he hacked into Stratfor group e-mail.
