On Wednesday, May 1st 2019, one of the best goalkeepers to ever play soccer suffered a heart attack at FC Porto’s training center. “Iker Casillas suffered an acute myocardial infarction during morning practice this Wednesday…” Porto said in a statement after the incident.

A heart attack, or acute myocardial infarction, occurs when a part of the heart doesn’t receive enough blood. Casillas underwent surgery and is now in stable condition with his cardiac problem resolved. Iker is considered to be one of the all time greats of his sport so when people found out about what had happened to him, every soccer fan got together and prayed for his recovery because they know how great of a goalkeeper he was and even better as a human being. He’s won every trophy that any player would want to win. Winning the 2010 World Cup with Spain and many more titles with Real Madrid, he has become one of the most successful players in history. Thankfully, nothing bad happened and he is now in the hospital recovering waiting to get back on the pitch.
