Should You Get a Job In High School?
April 30, 2019
When you finally turn the age that you are allowed to work, it could be very exciting. There are many reasons that you would want to work during high school. For example, being able to buy the things you want, saving up for college after high school, to help your family, to go out with your friends, and overall to be more independent. However, there are many responsibilities that come along with being an employed student. Your employer will expect many things from you, but most importantly they will want someone that is reliable and trustworthy. You will have to make time for your schoolwork when you get home. There will also be times when you will have to sacrifice spending time with your friends and going to parties. Although it may seem tough, having a job in high school could be great if you learn how to manage your time wisely.
Before getting a job, you will be asked to have a GPA of 2.o or higher and keep it that way. Then you will receive your working permit, which your employer will require you to have. You will also be able to join the work experience class taught by Mr. Kadin which gives you 5 credits for showing up to Tuesday meetings during lunch. I would 100% recommend his class because it’s an easy way to earn some extra credits! If you are a great student with some extra time in your day then getting a job would be good for you.
