No More Plastic Straws

Lately I have been noticing that metal, glass, or bamboo straws are making their way to every store in town, a lot of famous people are trying to make this a thing.

Plastic straws were found inside of fishes and seagulls. Now they are being banned from Starbucks and other restaurants. Even street vendors are going to have to get rid of plastic straws. They have to choose between the following:

  • Paper: Too soggy, too fast.
  • Metal: Too clunky, too thin and “downright dangerous.”**
  • Glass: A favorite! Smooth, wide and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Bamboo: The winner. “Functional and durable.”

The Starbucks store has changed the lids of the iced coffee so that they won’t need straws. As for Frappuccinos they are meant to have straws because it is a smoothie type of coffee. That is why it is better to have your own straws and save fishes lives or even whales. Lately the wild animals have been suffering just because we aren’t recycling and doing what we are suppose to do.

Even having your own reusable cup is better. They maybe expensive for cups but like I said it worth saving wild life. We like animals and we also eat fish. With out fishes we would not have our favorite seafood meals. We need to protect our earth and animals. Instead of doing that we are harming them by throwing our trash in the streets. Think about it next time you go for a beverage.

The banning of the straws are actually taking effect today April 22, 2019. It will affect 32,000 facilities in Los Angeles not including street vendors or other cities.
