Recently, staff within the Oxnard Union School District voted on a new calendar contract for the coming up class of 2019-2020. The new plan includes a February and Easter Break where students will have a week off of school for both coming up breaks. Due to the reason’s being of the lack of substitutes being available to sub specifically in February for the big amount of teachers calling out on the weeks we have Monday’s and Friday’s off leaving only 3 days for school to be in session. Statistics on the votes were very tight but with the win of 5 more votes, the new calendar contract starting the year 2019-2020 will be official! The topic has been controversial whether these breaks will affect our semesters and turn them into trimesters but nothing has been confirmed by the district.
