December 7th 1941, The Imperial Japanese Navy launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor Hawaii. This attack killed over 2000 and wounded 1000 more Americans as well as crippled the Pacific Fleet. This led to America entering WW2.

Japan had planed the attack for months all while continuing diplomatic talks to Trick the U.S. into feeling safe. This was the first time America was attacked on its own soil. This attack enraged the public and awoke Americas industrial and military might, in response to this the us launched the Doolittle raids a series of bombings of the Japanese homeland. Although not officially done out of revenge most Americans justified the nuking of Nagasaki and Hiroshima as revenge for all the sailors who died in the attack.

One ship named the USS Arizona the flag ship of Battleship division 1 was was hit by 4 bombs which cause the ship to explode and flood it sank along with its crew of  1,177.
