The Importance Of Reading

Kevin Lucia, Contributor

Because of technology, reading has become less and less of an interest among teenagers. There are many implications of not having an interest in reading or at least doing a little bit of reading every now and then. To begin with, reading causes stimulation in the brain which is necessary for hormones to develop correctly. Aside from health benefits, reading also benefits your reading and speaking skills, when you read, you take in so much knowledge and you inadvertently learn new words. I would highly recommend reading to anyone that has problems speaking or even reading. You may feel like you aren’t accomplishing anything but you just have to carry on with the reading and eventually you will come to find out that reading is one of the most beneficial things a young person can do.

Some of the kinds of books I recommend reading are self development and self growth books. These kind of books open your mind to different perspectives and they also open your mind to new ideas and new habits you can implement into your life to achieve a better mental and maybe even physical health.
