How Sound-Cloud Was Created

Sound Cloud was established in Berlin in August 2007 by Swedish sound designer Alexander Ljung and Swedish electronic musician Eric Wahlforss. The website was launched in October 2008. It was originally intended to allow musicians to collaborate and share and discuss recordings, but later transformed into a publishing tool for music distribution. At that time Sound-cloud began to challenge the dominance platform Myspace for musicians to distribute their music. Sound cloud surpassed their expectations when they first made it. Spotify even stated that they were willing to buy out sound cloud on September 28, 2016 but didn’t end up perusing that deal. Leaving the CEO Alex Ljung with the company still. Recently in 2017 Alex stepped down from CEO to hand it over to Kerry Trainor, the current CEO for Sound Cloud today. Just last July Sound Cloud pulled in a total 175 million users. It continues to be a growing industry to this day.
