A panic disorder is diagnosed in people who experience panic attacks very often. People who are always getting panic attacks are very preoccupied with the fear of recurring an attack. A panic attack can occur when you’re sleeping. People usually get a panic disorder in adulthood around the early 20’s. Children can also have panic disorder. A person who has experienced a panic disorder is given a year , but the panic disorder is twice as common in women than in men. Panic disorder causes people to miss work, they have many doctor appointments and they also try avoiding many situations in the fear of having a panic attack.

Many people that have frequent panic attacks don’t know that this disorder is real and highly responsive to treatment. Some that have this type of disorder are afraid to tell anyone because they have gone through an experience of fear. They suffer in silence and distanced themselves from family and friends.
