An Interview with Mr. Graves

Mr. graves is our school Librarian at Hueneme High School. The library is open at 7:30 am in the morning and closes at 4:00 pm in the afternoon. On a minimum day the library is open at 7:30 am in the morning and closes at 2:00 pm in the afternoon. The library website is http://www.hhslmc.com/

1. What made you become a librarian? 

” When I was a kid I read a lot and my parents were teachers. There was a library of books in my house . I just like learning and I like sharing that love with other people.”

2. What college or university did you attend? 

“I went to San Luis Obispo, Cal Luthern, Azusa Pacific.”

3. Did you do something else before working at Hueneme High School? 

“Yes, I taught 6 grade math and PE at Mesa school in Somis. Before I was a teacher I was a house painter.”

4. How long have you been working at Hueneme High School? 

“My first year was 1996, so it will be 23 years.”

5. Do you dislike your job of any sort? 

“Not really, I just get frustrated when the computers start breaking down, but we get new ones this year.

6. What do you like about your job? Why?

“Most of all I like the students and  the  faculty also teaching information literacy, research writing and providing good books to read.”

7. What frustrates you about students when they’re inside your library? 

“When students bring in food and to talk to loud.”

8. Have you always lived in Oxnard, Ca? If not, where were you born?

“I was born a few blocks from Hueneme High School, I grew up in Ventura.”

9. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you like to go and why? 

“I’ve always wanted to visit India and Japan because they have amazing cultures and I could learn a lot from them, plus the food is great.”
