What Causes the Color in Sunsets

Nicole Moraga, Contributor

The color from the sunsets are caused by phenomenon called scattering. Molecules and small particles change the light rays positions causing the particles to scatter. Scattering affects the color of light coming from the sky but depending on the wavelength of the light and the size of the particle. Short wavelengths make you see blue and violet more than other colors of the spectrum.
