Barbara Bush (June 8, 1925 – April 17, 2018) was the wife of George H. W. Bush, who was the 41st President of the United States, and served as First Lady of the United States from 1989 to 1993. She had previously served as Second Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989.
Today.com stated “The funeral of former first lady Barbara Bush brought together her friends and loved ones, but it also gathered numerous generations of U.S. presidents and their wives.”
Former President Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George H. W. Bush, along with Melania Trump, Former first Lady Michelle Obama, Laura Bush and Hilary Clinton are photographed in the photograph taken with Barbara Bush above.
They also attended her funeral but it was noticeable that President Donald Trump did not attend. CCN states “The White House released a statement saying he decided not to attend the funeral in order “to avoid disruptions due to added security, and out of respect for the Bush family and friends attending the service.” Which would supposedly be the reason for his absence in Barbara Bush’s funeral.
After leaving his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, at just before noon, the President tweeted about Barbara Bush along with a photo of her White House portrait.
“Today, my thoughts and prayers are with the entire Bush family,” he wrote. “In memory of First Lady Barbara Bush, there is a remembrance display located at her portrait in the Center Hall of the @WhiteHouse.
