On May 29, Starbucks is Closing for Racial-Bias Training

Starbucks is closing on May 29 because there is going to be a racial-bias training after the incident that accord with two African American men that were arrested just for asking to use the restroom. The Starbucks company stated that “For the training its going to address implicit bias, promote conscious inclusion, prevent discrimination, and to ensure everyone inside of a Starbucks store feels safe and welcome.” Also 175,00 employees in the US will receive the training. The main Starbucks from Seattle, Washington came under fire with the Starbucks from Philadelphia when they found out that the men got arrested just for asking to use the restroom.
The two African American men explained that they were waiting for a friend that was going to be there. Once the friend arrived he saw that his two friends were being arrested and also Starbucks never pressed charges against the men. The CEO of Starbucks sent an apology about the incident and also confirmed that the Starbucks employee that worked there got fired. The CEO of Starbucks stated that “while this is not limited to Starbucks, we are committed to being a part of the solution. Closing our stores for racial-bias training, is just one step in a journey that requires dedication from every level of our company and partnerships in our local communities.” After the incident, Starbucks costumers around the country started to boycott after the news broke out about the two men that got arrested.
