Kacey Musgraves – ‘Golden Hour’

Kacey Musgraves - 'Golden Hour'

Golden Hour, Seventh studio album by Kacey Musgraves, has been praised by many in the music industry for its simplicity. Although it is a country album, it features a modern sound and uses synths for various songs. Golden Hour features musical instruments such as guitars, banjos, string instruments, keyboard, synthesizers, percussion, and the mandolin. The instrumentals have a smooth acoustic sound to them with a hint of pop. Although the composition of the songs sound simple, what makes the songs unique are the lyrical melodies that Musgraves composed.

The album runs for a total of 45:44 minutes and contains thirteen tracks.

  1. “Slow Burn”
  2. “Lonely Weekend”
  3. “Butterflies”
  4. “Oh, What A World
  5. “Mother”

  10. “Wonder Woman”
  11. “High Horse”
  12. “Golden Hour”

On an interview held by npr music, titled “Kacey Musgraves On Trusting Emotion At The ‘Golden Hour’ Of Her Life”, Musgraves explains: “While people have come to maybe expect some kind of a social commentary from me, I didn’t really want to go there with this record, because I just feel like people need a break from it. I feel like people are craving beauty. They’re craving something real and a little bit of an escape from turning on the news.” She goes on to say, “This record to me is all about feeling. It’s not about thinking as much. My prior records have been more about thinking — thinking about each line, thinking about the way that I’m flipping a phrase. And thinking is great, but if you have all thought no feeling … I think that’s a mistake.”

This album is beautiful and feels like summer. Don’t let the country genre scare you, for this album portrays a different side to country music.
