On Thursday, Grey’s Anatomy fans received heartbreaking news. Both characters Arizona (played by Jessica Capshaw) and April (played by Sarah Drew) are leaving the show after 14 seasons.

The news came as a shock for April Kepner fans. The decision was made by the producers who at the start of each season get to decide whether to keep a regular or to move on with someone else, or end the character entirely.

Both characters are fan favorites with each actress boasting 1.9 million followers on instagram. Like most Grey’s non-original cast members, Capshaw has played Dr. Arizona Robbins for 10 seasons, while Drew’s Dr. Kepner has been around for nine seasons.
