Big Retailers Closing Stores

There has been many retailers on many stores that have been closing more than 100 stores last year, and more still continue to leave. Here are some of the retailers that have closed last year.

CVS

The pharmacy said that it would close at least 70 store locations in 2017 as part of a bid to cut costs of its business. Although it still operates thousands of stores nationwide.

Foot Locker

The sports store retailer said that by march 1, it would shutter about 110 stores in a push to focus on higher performing locations while also opening 40 stores. It closed more than 140 stores globally last year.

J.C. Penny

This department store closed 138 stores last year while restructuring its business to consumer tastes. The retailer also announced that it has plans to open toy shops in all of its remaining locations.

Macy’s

This month macy’s would lay off seven stores that were undisclosed, including its workers that range about 5,000 of them as part of an ongoing effort to streamline business and adjust into a difficult sales environment.

Payless

Payless was filed for bankruptcy last april and has moved to close about 800 stores this year.

RadioShack

This once prominent electronic store has shutdown more than 1,000 store locations this year. Its brand now only operates just 70 stores nationwide orm a peak of several thousand.

Sears/Kmart

Sears is one of the stores that suffered a huge impact in a challenged sales environment, it shut down 35 kmart locations and eight Sers stores last july and has closed more than 300 locations last year.
