Is Puerto Rico Rationing Water?

Its been 5 months since Hurricane Maria has passed and the people of Puerto Rico still don’t have power. Due to shortage of water supplies, the western side island of Puerto Rico is starting to experiencing water rationing.

CBS News correspondent David Begnaud reports that the water in Guajataca Lake has been dwindling to the point where there might not be “sufficient production”. Begnaud stated that “a final decision on weather or not to begin rationing suppose to be coming early next week”.

Its not the only side of Puerto Rico that’s suffering from the damage, mainly the whole island of Puerto Rico is also suffering a lot of blackouts and a lack of electricity.

For Puerto Rico, electricity is not only big for their economy, its also important for the people. The people in Puerto Rico use the electricity for air conditioning , water and to also have food refrigerated.

The number of deaths from the hurricane is not exact, but its around 1,000. Mattathias Schwartz stated that “the government has not released an official number of  the victims.”
