The story behind the Eiffel Tower in Paris

The planning to built the Eiffel tower was in the year 1885 for the International Exposition which was intended to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution and birth of democracy. So to honor the greatness of France, the French decided to build this specific monument. The planning for the Eiffel Tower’s building was taken place at the World’s Fair of 1889 where the fair’s commissioner chose Gustave Eiffel’s design. Go-Today states that “Until 1930 the Eiffel Tower was the tallest man-made structure in the world.  Since the time of its construction over 200 million people have visited this French landmark that almost didn’t get built.” The Eiffel Tower created so much controversy at some point that it almost was not built due to a petition signed by over 300 protesters due to safety reasons.
