Haunted Places In Ventura County

Camarillo

Cal State Channel Islands- was originally the Camarillo State Mental Hospital that at one point housed over 7,000 mental patients. After six decades of operating, it is now a very haunted college. Students have stated that they have heard a woman crying in an abandoned building. They have also said they’ve heard heavy doors slamming shut and scratching on the walls when no one was around.

Scary Dairy- Once was the Camarillo State Hospital but now a ruined building, reports have said that the former mental hospital was either a dairy or a slaughterhouse and it is rumored to have been the site of several murders.

Ventura

Ventura Majestic Theater-  This theater is rumored to have some hauntings dating back to the 1920’s. The most common thing they’ve seen is a headless woman in a white dress dancing alone on the stage after productions. Some believe it is a graduating teenage girl who fell off from the stage area and broke her neck.

Old Ventura Pier- The old Ventura Pier is supposedly haunted by a man who was swept by the ocean and drowned. His ghost can be seen on the pier during stormy weather.

Dudley House-  The 1892 Victorian-styled home is supposedly haunted by an ancestor of the original family. Many have seen a blue light coming from the kitchen and have also seen a face in the window.

Thousand Oaks

Stagecoach Inn- It is said to be one of the most haunted places in California, this historic inn is now open as a museum and also a gift shop opened on Wednesday through Sundays from 1 to 4pm. The ghost’s name is Pierre and owners say that he likes to pull pranks on visitors.

California Lutheran University- The apparition of a young boy is said to roam the upstairs hall. Things like pillows being tossed and blankets are pulled, and students finding mud in their room is said to be from the young boy. Students have said that the dorm was built on the site of the hotel where a boy was killed.

Oxnard

Walmart- The ghost of a 7-9 year old girl in a blue dress with braids and giggle at employees.

Heritage Square Museum- There has been reports of visitors seeing a phantom of a man nicknamed Uncle Eddy.

Fallas Paredes-  A source has said that her aunt was a manager there and reports of strange things happening such as seeing a floating man in the stockroom.
