Look at the real picture

Look+at+the+real+picture

At sixteen years old, we know nothing about the world. Abstract concepts are finally starting to make sense, but what once made sense is now abstract. We are clueless about what we want, about what we need. Many of us are just trying to find happiness, but we keep searching in the wrong places.

You feel so big, but you’re still so small. So be careful where you step, because you can get yourself so deep in this mess that not even your trusted ones can pull you out alive.

You know what you did, you know what you’re doing. You dived right into this mess. With a little fear, and a lot of adrenaline you put yourself in this situation. While I was still walking around the ledge, dipping my feet, you dived right in. I’m glad I didn’t follow suit.

You are not the person I thought you to be. Seeing how life is turning out for you, I don’t ever want be in the same boat, let alone the same waters as you.

I want to say that you’re afraid, that you have regret, but I honestly don’t know your mind. I don’t know you. But I do know something. We are all still children, we are idiots. I don’t know what love is, and you, you are just as ignorant. It’s a fact not an opinion. You see, I’ve lived my whole life knowing that I don’t know anything at all, but you’ve kept on lying to yourself telling yourself that you know everything. Now you’ve left to see where the wind takes you, but the cycle repeats and everything intertwines so that you’ll be back to square one in no time.

By the time you’re back, I won’t be there anymore. That’s a promise. There is this straight line that is set up for everyone, but we all make a maze out of it. I’m done being lost and twisted when the path has been straight all along.

Taking a step back and looking at the real picture, I get to see how petty this all really is. Why are we lying to ourselves that these things are fine? Why are we letting these things take charge of our lives? Today is not the day to give in to these things, to think about a happily ever after. This is not the time to play at something that isn’t real. Fairy tales are just fairy tales and dreams will only be dreams. This is reality, this is true. We are doing a horrible job at separating these two.
