I was curious about the students in special education, since they do have a separate schedule than us. So, I talked to a couple of the students to hear from them about their experience at school.
The one that was talking the most and seemed most enthusiastic about talking to a complete stranger was Miguel he is 17, and a senior here at Hueneme High School. I know that they do lots of activities at the time of my visit they were going around the school collecting cans and bottles. While I was there I got to have little conversations with them.
I asked what their favorite activity was and Miguel said,” I like to play basketball, it’s really fun.” his friend Danny could not decide so he said that he enjoyed playing both Basketball and soccer. I proceeded to ask Miguel and his friend Danny if they look forward to coming to school, and they both looked up and smiled and gave me a huge Yes! At this point I was filled with joy as to how happy they were, and I was proud that our school provides an environment where special needs students can have a good time.
